Whaur privacy policy

Last updated 28 October 2026

Whaur is a browser extension (and phone widget) that shows live bus times for the Edinburgh stops you choose. It has no accounts, and it collects no personal information.

On your device

Your saved stops and settings are kept in your browser's extension storage. If you use your browser's sync, they sync with it, as browser sync normally does. Your bus alerts and an anonymous install code are kept on your device only.

What's sent to Whaur's server

To show live times, the extension sends Whaur's server (iamagoodacc.tardis.ac) the stop or bus you're looking at, and any bus alerts you set: which stop, which bus, and how early to tell you. Each request carries a random install code, which identifies that copy of the extension, not you. It's used only to share the server fairly between users (rate limits).

What the server keeps

The stops being looked at, for a few minutes, so it can fetch their departures. Your alerts, in memory, until they go off or you remove them. The server doesn't log requests or IP addresses, and keeps nothing that identifies you. What it learns, such as how long buses take between stops, is about buses, not people.

Who else sees anything

Nobody: Whaur doesn't sell, share or pass on any data. Map tiles are loaded from OpenFreeMap, which, like any website, sees the request for them. Bus data comes from the City of Edinburgh Council's Bus Tracker; Whaur sends it nothing about you.

No ads, no tracking

Whaur has no adverts, analytics or trackers.
